Abstract

Waste water treatment for reutilization is not generally deployed as practical option in Mexico, nor is the return of treated water into surface deposits or reinjection into de water beds. Existing treatment plants frequently rely on polluting technologies, high in energy consumption and toxic waste generation. In order to build sustainable urban infrastructure it is necessary to have recourse to alternative technologies, which allow water reuse and recycling and/or the return of used water with better quality back to nature, without intensive use of energy and no contaminant production.
