Atrial fibrillation, a type of cardiac arrhythmia, affects about 30-40% of Western people during their lives. In order to provide better, more efficient, more personal, and less expensive care, the treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation is constantly evolving. This thesis discusses the integration of various new care techniques into 'standard' care for patients who undergo an invasive procedure to treat atrial fibrillation. In three parts, the integration of remote care ('mHealth'), diagnosis and treatment of common comorbidities, and heart failure care into standard atrial fibrillation care are discussed. The chapters focus on more efficiency in care delivery, symptom reduction through early risk factor management, and the best approach to treat combined multimorbidity
