NERC Annotated DMP Templates

Abstract

<div>These are annotated data management plan (DMP) templates for Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Data Management Plans.</div><div><br></div><div>These documents (available in .pdf and .docx formats) were created using the <a href="https://dmponline.dcc.ac.uk/">DMPonline tool</a>, which provides templates for structuring major research funders' DMPs. The documents include the guidance text provided in the tool, produced by the <a href="http://www.dcc.ac.uk/sites/default/files/documents/publications/DMP-themes.pdf">Digital Curation Centre (DCC)</a>, the <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/dmp/">NERC</a> and the <a href="https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/library/rdm/dmp">University of Sheffield Library</a>. </div><div><br></div><div>The <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/policy/">NERC Data Policy</a> requires NERC-funded scientists to make their data openly available within two years of collection and deposit it in a <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/">NERC data centre</a> for long term preservation. The aim is that all NERC-funded data are managed and made available for the long-term for anybody to use without any restrictions. </div><div><br></div><div>All NERC proposals require an <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/dmp/outline-dmp-template/">Outline DMP</a> to identify data sets of long term value that should be made available to NERC data centres for archiving and reuse at the end of the fellowship or grant. For successful proposals, the outline data management plans will be used by the NERC data centres to produce a <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/dmp/dmp-template/">full DMP</a> in collaboration with the Principal Investigator(s), within three to six months of the start date of the grant.</div><div><br></div><div>Access the NERC outline and full DMP templates and guidance at: <a href="http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/sites/data/dmp/">Data management planning</a>.
