Proceedings of the Twelfth International Symposium on Wearable Computers

Abstract

This year's technical program continues the emphasis on wearable context and activity sensing, including location sensing; the challenges of HCI for wearables; and the efficient management of power. The poster session illustrates the manifold applications of the field including fashion, health and gaming. In our Call for Papers we identified cell phones as the most successful wearable computer to date, and specifically sought papers presenting novel research using these devices. The breadth of the wearable computing field attracts submissions from a wide variety of research disciplines and to provide assistance to authors who are not familiar with submitting to a technical conference, we outlined the expected structure of submissions on our website. We received 31 long papers, 17 short papers and 13 posters from which we selected 8 long papers, 7 short papers and 9 posters as meeting the high standards we have come to expect at this conference.
