Mirto y ajenjo en la poesía romana

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the literary traits and the symbolic values that ancient authors, especially Roman authors, gave to flowers in general and to mirtle in particular. Later, I will turn to the symbolism of wormwood, much less used in poetry. Finally, I will concentrate on Ovid, because it is in his work where the intentional opposition between one plant and the other is found.En este trabajo se analizan las características literarias y los valores simbólicos que los autores antiguos, sobre todo romanos, les han asignado a las flores en general y al mirto en concreto, para después abordar el simbolismo del ajenjo, bastante menos fecundo en la poesía. Finalmente se hace especial hincapié en Ovidio, pues en él se produciría por primera vez la intencionada oposición entre una y otra planta
